PDF table extraction: choose, check and export a table

Extract tables from text PDFs and scanned reports, inspect each detected table and export a checked Excel workbook.

Start with aligned columns

Text PDFs with visible borders or consistent word alignment usually give the clearest extraction. Upload a single file. The preview keeps separately detected tables and page numbers so you can compare each one to the source.

Review page boundaries

A new page can repeat a table header or wrap an address across rows. TableXL preserves detected tables as separate sheets rather than guessing that unrelated tables belong together. Rename headers and edit cells to correct recognition before download.

Choose your export

XLSX contains one worksheet per detected table. CSV places each table’s header followed by its rows, adding Table and Source page columns; differing schemas are preserved rather than silently aligned. For a single consistent schema, use the relevant XLSX sheet.

Understand OCR

Image-only pages use Tesseract locally and show a review warning. Column detection on scans is approximate and may miss or combine cells. Try a straight, high-contrast scan; compare every value and total to the source.
